So this is only a few weeks late because life just happens like that sometimes and phone calls come and paperwork happens and things just get crazy.
All that said, we did put our garden in a few weeks ago. And I’ll confess now…I did not start a single plant from seed indoors. I always have. But not this year. It mainly had to do with a certain 2 now 3 year old who I was afraid would decide that it was his daily mission to “care for” the seedlings. And by “care for” I simply mean….put in the sink/bathtub/shower or any other place to “water” the seeds, dump out the dirt on a regular basis to see if anything was growing….especially if it meant spreading that dirt onto and into as many places as possible, and finally pulling whatever brave plants decided to sprout to show me…and since all of those were very real and possible possibilities, I chose to go the less frustrating route and buy my plants this year.
I also decided to make my garden smaller. However that allowed the three boys to each have their own gardens, which they are super excited about. Where I planted 15 or so tomatillos last year, this year I only planted 2. And where I planted 10 peppers last year, this year I only planted 4. But with that we got to plant a lot of things that the boys wanted to plant…and so we have corn, broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, beans, onions, pumpkins, kale, potatoes, sweet bell peppers, and lettuce.
The boys loved digging the holes, filling the walls of water, making rows with their hoes, and putting the seeds in (we planted many seeds, just didn’t start any early inside). It was a great day.

And since this post is a few weeks late, I can already say we have a number of sprouts poking through already!
