About Me

I should probably start by introducing myself and give a bit of a history. I am first and foremost a child of God and daily working on making that a reality in my life and something that I live out as an example for others to see. It’s something that I struggle with and haven’t figured out and won’t this side of heaven, but it’s what my life is based on. I am secondly a wife of an amazing man for 15 years. It hasn’t all be easy and we’ve both learned a ton and have a lot more to learn. I am also the proud mommy of 5 little ones, an 13 year old, a 10 year old, a 9 year old, and two 7 year olds. I didn’t know my heart could be so full as it is being a mom. I hope that my mind stores up each of these memories and holds them tight, as I watch these three little guys grow. I also pray that it doesn’t go too fast. And I’m an ER doctor. I love seeing everyone and every age with every possible complaint in the world. I’ve delivered babies, sewn up faces and other body parts, grabbed numerous puke bags, held hands, cut open chests and manually pump hearts, put tubes in all sorts of places, and delivered bad news. I love what I do (most of the time) but love coming home and chasing grass hoppers and frogs with my boys and girl and snuggling up to read a book with my husband even more. Besides the roles I play, I enjoy running, photography, being outdoors, gardening, hiking and feel extremely blessed to live in the beautiful and active state of Colorado.

And that’s me in a nutshell. There’s a lot more to me, but all in all that sums me up as best as a paragraph and a few photos can.

    Dear Hiking Mommy,

My name is Ashlee. I’m co-founder of the Youshare Project, with the mission to connect people around the world through true, personal stories. I recently stumbled across your blog and read several of your posts. I was especially taken by the entries in which you talk about adopting Edric and his progress as he settles into his new life with his new family. I am wondering if you would consider sharing a story with the Youshare Project, as I think many people around the world could identify with your experience, or who may be considering international adoption as well and looking for other stories like yours for guidance. Perhaps one story that could be adapted to our project is the post entitled “Some Days are Hard,” but perhaps expanded a bit to add some background information and updated since a few months have passed since you wrote it?

If this sounds interesting to you, I would love to email you directly with more information and formally invite you to share a story with the project. You have my email address and website. I hope to hear from you soon.

    Best,
    Ashlee
