Cross Country Skiing…

For my birthday a few days after Christmas we all went cross country skiing. It was a chilly day and there was a light snow falling most of the time, but it was beautiful and everyone had a good time. Cross country skiing is hard work and we were on a fairly hilly course. There was one area that was quite steep and had a lot of ice on it that we took the skies off and walked up, but otherwise they skied and skied and we did over 6 miles. Leighton was the only one that used poles, and really I think that was the best plan because I think they would have been all tied up and such with so many poles between all of them. Now that they’ve got the technique down pretty well I think we can add poles in without causing too many issues. There were various trails that went under the gondolas going up to the downhill resort and the kids enjoyed waving at those skiers. I think each of the kids fell asleep on the drive home. We all enjoyed my mom’s chicken enchiladas with my parents for dinner that night and everyone slept well. It was a really good day and I am so blessed to have spent it with my wonderful family!
