Typically people don’t think about hiking for their birthday when it is in December but the weather was fairly mild after Christmas so that’s exactly what we did. Our original hiking trail was closed because it was too muddy so we ended up at Hall Ranch which was just fine. It was pretty chilly when we started out and the first 2 miles is a steady climb. However as we were all making it to the top of the ridge the sun broke through and warmed things up pretty nicely. We had a little snack there. Paxton and Coppelia and Edric didn’t want to go any farther so they started back to the trail head with Clint which Caedmon and Leighton went on a 2 mile trail run with me, 1 mile out farther and then back to the top of the ridge. We had fun and it felt good to get a few miles under my feet. We ended up trail running the rest of the way down the trail till we caught up with Clint and the others. We could hear them long before we could see them as Paxton and Coppelia were trying to jump out and surprise Clint and Edric which mostly resulted in lots of giggles all around. It was a great day and glad we got to enjoy it all together.
