Last Friday we decided to go fishing in the morning. The day before had been warm and gorgeous, but Friday AM was a bit cloudy and cool but that didn’t stop us. We went to a reservoir just about 10 minutes from our house which made it super easy. The kids were all excited, especially the boys because they got to use their new tackle boxes and rods and reels that they got for Christmas for the first time. I can’t say that it was the most successful fishing trip….although I should get credit for the multiple lines that I untangled….it amazes me how in just mere seconds a line can go from fully functional to completely wrapped around a kid and through their legs and 1/2 a mile down the shoreline, but it does. I would be interested to know the comparison of the time that the kids actually spent with their poles in the water and the time that they spent changing out their lures….but it doesn’t really matter. My dad joined us part way through the morning and not long after he arrived he caught a nice large catfish. Shortly after Leighton caught a tiny little trout that he was super proud of. No one else caught anything but we all had a good time. Looking forward to more days of fishing…..
