We woke up the second morning and started packing everything back up in order to hike back out. Everyone pitched in to help pack up and take the tents down and get everyone loaded up to go. Our bags were quite a bit lighter coming out thanks to eating all our food. Once we got everyone loaded up the kids all asked “can we come back and do this again?” which we gladly answered yes to. We had a good hike out, I was hiking with Edric and he and I were pretending to be cars zooming around the corners. Paxton wanted to be in front so he took his turn at times and they all switched out. We stopped for snacks and a rest part way down. Shortly after the 1/2 way down part we passed a couple headed up on a day hike and I saw the guy look at Paxton and then look at the girl he was hiking with and he said “man, that little guy is carrying more than you!” And I laughed, we had planned and packed everyone’s bags so they were more than manageable and the kids didn’t have a problem with them, however we were all glad to take them off as soon as we hit the trailhead at the bottom. It was a great trip and went far better than I had hoped. Looking forward to more backpacking adventures with all of them in the future!
