Chasm Running….

Last Friday Clint and I went for a good trail run/altitude training/time without kiddos/refreshing moment up to Chasm Lake at the base of Longs Peak. It was all in one. And much needed. It was nearly 3000 feet in altitude gain in the 4.3 miles up, but we had a gorgeous day and got an amazing workout despite the steep climb. We have both hiked this trail before, it was one of the first hikes that I took Clint on when we were dating and he came to Colorado to visit. The Oklahoma flat boy was not use to altitude, hiking, climbing, or much physical exercise…when we got back to my parents after the hike that time he locked himself in his room for the rest of the afternoon/evening and went to bed…However the last part of the hike is just gorgeous with water falls pouring out of the side of the mountain and a stream surrounded by wild flowers and Longs, Meeker, and Lady Washington all rising up around the lake. And so I just leave you with photos.
