Gardening 101 Week 17

It’s beginning to get very HOT here. However tomatoes really thrive and take off a lot when it’s hot so I guess all the heat is a good thing, although I’m much more a 70s kind of girl then a 90s.

Speaking of tomatoes, I have a few small ones set on! Yeah, not too much longer and I’ll be making salsa and spaghetti sauce. Now if my peppers would catch up I’d be in good shape.

Speaking of good shape, I think I may have planted my beans/peppers/pumpkins a little too close to each other, they are crowding each other a lot, but they don’t really seem to mind. I may just find a pumpkin growing up my bean poles…

My lillies are also starting to bloom which is adding lots of color to my flower beds. They only bloom for a few days at a time and i wish they would bloom for longer. I have a couple other things that are blooming too as well.

However you may have noticed your mums putting buds on like they want to bloom. This is not the time for them to bloom and if you let them bloom now then you won’t have big bushy plants come the fall when they are suppose to bloom. Go through and pull off the buds. It may seem cruel, but your plants will be much healthier and happier for it.

I think that’s it for now, enjoy your week and keep growing your plants!
