This fall Leighton was asked to join a robotics team with a couple guys from his youth group and he has had so much fun. I have no idea how any of it works but I’m glad he’s enjoying it. They had their first competition a couple of weekends ago at my old high school which I had not been in since I graduated. The robot has to empty out and caputure a bunch of disks from different towers, and each tower has a different way that it can release the disks and then they have to shoot the disks across the floor and score points. Or something like that. For the competitions they compete individually but then also are paired up a number of times with other teams and score points together. They usually drive it with a remote but they also have to work at coding a program to make it drive. They don’t have all their code done for that part yet, so they didn’t compete in that section of it. However they ended up taking 3rd overall which was very exciting. I think they had a ton of fun as well.
