Nutcracker 2020 and a Project…

Nutcracker this year looked quite a bit different (as did many things in 2020). Caedmon filmed his parts for Nutcracker back on Halloween and November 1st, Leighton and Clint played one of the songs for one of the dances in the second act and I did various things from taking some backstage and photo booth photos of the dancers when they filmed to making some masks and head pieces. I missed backstage and I know Caedmon missed the fun backstage environment but for the first time he actually got to see himself dance which was a fun change. The ballet streamed the show at various times during the past week and we watched it twice. The first was with my parents and brother and sister in law and I managed to not get a photo of that time, and the second time was with our good friends Jeff and Sarah and their girls Brooklyn and Olivia. We kept ourselves all safe with masks and settled in and enjoyed the show together. Everyone enjoyed the show and it was really amazing despite all the obstacles in the way for filming that it all came together into a really good show. On Tuesday after we watched the show with Jeff and Sarah then the kids banded together and made goodie bags to hand out to those who were homeless or struggling that are in the Emergency Department with socks, handwarmers, chapstick and notes in each one. They also worked hard and made about 40 notes for people that had to be in the ER as patients on Christmas Day attached to a bag of hot chocolate to help bring smiles to them during a tough time. The kids really worked hard on their notes with all sorts of stickers and stamps and drawings. It was really neat to watch the kids give of their time and talent to try and help others feel better and brighten their days.
