Colorado Springs Weekend….

This past weekend we got to get away and go to Colorado Springs. Leighton had a gymnastics meet at the Olympic Training Center and so we made a weekend out of it. His meet was actually Friday evening. The meet was really neat, it was held in the basketball gym but the boys got to warm up their ring routine in the gym next door which was where the national team trains. During the meet, two friends from college, Leah and Annie, came and watched with us and we got a chance to catch up. At the end of the meet two of the national team members handed out meet towels to each of the gymnasts and then they also helped hand out awards at the end of the meet. The scoring and judging was a little different and lower than it has been compared to the past meets, but Leighton took 3rd overall in his age and division for All Around and seemed to have his best routines.

My parents also made the trek to Colorado Springs and we met up with them Saturday morning at Garden of the Gods. It snowed Friday night so there was fresh snow everywhere. We had fun walking around and throwing snow at each other and just enjoying the outside. I was fighting a cold that the littles had shared with me so I didn’t have much of a voice but we had a good time. The sky was clear and so we had a great view of Pikes Peak.

Saturday afternoon everyone was tired, the meet had gone past everyones bed time the night before. We had a little cottage by a river that we found on Airbnb and so the littles took naps, Leighton, Edric and my mom and I went on a little hike/walk on the Sante Fe trail which ran by the cottage. We made tacos for dinner and then had family game night. It was just a nice break and enjoyable evening.

We loaded up and headed home Sunday morning. It was a great little quick weekend away.
