On September 30th we had our first trail run in the 2021 Grand Circle Trailfest. Day one was Bryce Canyon and it was all of 20 degrees when we started, but we got to watch the sun rise over the canyons which was amazing. The views were amazing and the hoodoos were just as stunning. There were a tons of ups and downs throughout the course. Unfortunately I ended up assisting with a medical emergency at about mile 5.5 that took me out of the race. Clint was a huge support during that and I met some amazing nurse practitioners and EMTs and other runners who had stopped to assist. It was not the way I planned on the race going, but I witnessed the brotherhood/sisterhood of runners come together and do amazing things during it and care for a fellow running sister. We ended up completing a little over 8 miles of the course and while we walked away not finishing the course we gained a new perspective on life, an appreciation for the fragility of it, and a new set of friends and connections that we would not have made otherwise. After the shuttles got us back to our car we drove into Bryce and walked along the rim trail and enjoyed Bryce Canyon.
