Saturday was gorgeous and so it was time to plant my garden. I started tomatillo plants and peppers and kale inside weeks ago and they really took off. I love gardening and told Clint for Mother’s Day I just wanted a chance to get my garden all planted. We set up our walls of water for the tomatillos the day before so they were ready and then got all my peppers and everything moved outside. Our sweet little friends Brooklyn and Olivia joined us for the planting which was super fun as well. I found some new little pepper covers to act as mini greenhouses for them and the kids helped put each one on as we planted their plants. Unfortunately just as we were finishing up the planting of the peppers and tomatillos and getting ready to plant all the seeds one of my bees, who I think was upset because I had moved their water station out of the middle of the garden where it had been all winter, stung Caedmon and then shortly there after another bee stung Clint. We moved everyone to the front yard at that time and our sweet friends headed home. Clint got the kids lunch and I ventured back out to the garden and the bees left me alone and I got the beans, corn, lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, zucchini, and watermelon all planted. Of course a snow storm moved in Sunday evening so just before that started I got every bucket I could find to cover all my peppers and kale plants. And when I was finally able to take the buckets all down on Wednesday everything looked really good and survived the May snow storm. I’m looking forward to tending my garden this summer.
