We are busy with our winter/spring activities. Everyone gets to do one sport/activity because mommy and daddy only have so much time and so many hours in a day and we have said that we are not spending every evening in a car driving somewhere. And Paxton and Coppelia’s activity is preschool because….honestly we spend more time driving back and forth to that 4 days a week than any of the other activities and you add in the cost. So yeah, that’s their “activity”. But they have such a sweet little preschool and wonderful teacher they get so much out of it and it has been so good for both of them. Edric is doing swim lessons and really enjoying that on Monday nights. He wasn’t real particular about what he wanted to do…just wanted to do something. And as it turns out swim lessons were a few blocks from Leighton’s gymnastics just about the time his practice ends on Monday evenings so it works really well. And Caedmon has ballet. That kids loves to dance. And asks every week before his Boys Dance class or his regular Ballet class if we can go early so he can watch the big dancers. They had try outs last week for the spring show, The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe, and he has asked me constantly since then if I know what his parts are and when he gets to start his rehearsals for that. And Leighton has gymnastics which he really enjoys and has grown so much with. Right now we have Thursday nights where we don’t have any commitments and it is such a great night, we make it our family night many weeks and play games and just enjoy being together outside of the weekend. Yes we homeschool and kids are home and with us all day but taking that focused time together is still really valuable and loved by all. I know schedules won’t always aline as they get more involved and older, but that’s one of the reasons I love homeschool because we get to spend the days learning and exploring together and eat lunches together before evening activities begin.
