Gardening 101 Week 7

So this is a day late. But things are growing and our garden is getting ready for the plants to get planted in them.

It was a busy week getting the yard ready for summer and the garden ready for planting. First off, remember the garden in the front that we have been re-doing? Well it was time to add the mulch. Luckily I had a good helper.

It took a lot of mulch but we got the front finished and we able to add mulch to the back gardens as well! I’m super excited and pleased with how it all turned out.

Next came moving dirt to add to our garden space. I’m talking about 8,000 pound of dirt that had to get moved. And I did the majority of it myself. Although I did have some help…

I got the dirt in and spread and the garden just needs to be rotertilled and we will be ready to plant! I’m excited and still digging the dirt out from my fingernails.

And on to the plants that are soon going to go into that dirt! They are actually beginning to look like plants! At least I should have broccoli and tomatoes this year. Keep watering them, and remember to rotate them each day by the window to strengthen their stems, you have probably noticed that they all lean towards the window by the end of the day, just flip them around the next day so they stretch the other way.

Happy planting and growing until next week (hopefully back to Monday again!)
