It’s only taken a number of years but we finally made it out to watch our friends do their junior drag racing this past Saturday and it was a blast. Andie (their daughter) and Leighton were in preschool together way back when (both will start high school this fall!!!!) and Aiden (their youngest son) have been at Apex together since kindergarten and I’m pretty much sure are joined at the hip….in fact I think a couple teachers can’t tell them apart because they are never apart. It turned out that Saturday was the Western Conference National Finals so we chose a big day to cheer our friends on. We knew nothing but were quickly schooled and learned all day long how things went. Everyone had ear muff or ear plugs for when we were down at the track. I think the kids favorite parts were when we hauled the dragsters down to the track or back from the finish area because it meant that they got to ride in them as we pulled them with the golf cart. Although Paxton’s favorite part was probably when Miss Sheri let him steer the golf cart back to the trailer, he thought he was big stuff for sure. After the morning timing rounds the competition begin in the afternoon. Andie got eliminated in the first round, but then took the kids to the bouncy houses so I think they still had fun. Aiden ended up going through each round and made it to the finals. We were all excited to cheer him on and ultimately he ended up winning and walking away with the 11 year old championship which was super exciting. We had a great day and enjoyed supporting our friends and enjoyed learning all things dragster racing.
