Last Wednesday we made our first family trip to Elitches which is the amusement park in Denver. I grew up visiting each summer and was never a big roller coaster fan but always had fun. Paxton was finally tall enough this summer to meet the height requirement for almost all the rides so we were ready. I didn’t get any photos because I left my phone in the car, didn’t trust it in my pocket. We started on a ride that both did some spinning and flying through the air and wasn’t too crazy but enough to get everyone ready. And then we went from there. The big wooden roller coaster was closed for repairs but otherwise we rode just about every ride. Edric and I didn’t ride the one that just did multiple upside down circles over and over and Clint looked very green after Tilt-a-world which just made me giggle. We spent a little time in the water park but mostly in the main amusement park side. The littles weren’t tall enough for the big red roller coaster and so while the others headed to that we went to the carousel which I was totally find with. Edric did cry a little at the end of the red roller coaster but by the time we caught back up with him he was smiling again. We saved the big fast yellow roller coaster for the end. Caedmon, Paxton, and Leighton all ended up on the coaster first and there was a group of teen boys amazed that Paxton was riding it and then more amazed when he came back all smiles at the end. He and Caedmon are definitely the thrill seekers in our family. Coppelia was less than thrilled to be getting on it and I told her to just close her eyes and count, that’s the only way I get through it. My plan didn’t work for her though and she was full of tears at the end. But soon after was all smiles. We had a great day, lots of laughs and smiles and thrills for sure.
