The past two weekends I have spent a decent amount of time watching Paxton and Leighton compete at gymnastics meets. The first weekend it was down in south Denver and Paxton’s meet was first in the morning and then Leighton’s was that afternoon. Both boys did very well, neither placed but both improved on all their routines. Paxton added some extra things in his routines that he wasn’t suppose to but it’s his first year and he’s learning and enjoys it. Paxton was also very impressed by the older boys that competed against Leighton who were in their late teens. When we got home Paxton told Clint, “Daddy the boys in Leighton’s meet had hair under their arms….I have some growing to do”. This past weekend the boys had their meet in Lafayette and both Clint and I got to go and watch them. Paxton was early Saturday morning and then Leighton’s was early afternoon on Sunday. I managed to only get one photo of Paxton and totally forgot to take any of Leighton. Again they did really well. Paxton placed 4th on vault and while Leighton had the 3rd highest vault score because he tied with another gymnast and that other gymnast had a higher all around he didn’t officially place on the event. He did do his round off back tuck on his own without coach on the floor which was the first time he had done that, he had been so nervous about it. Leighton’s friend, Andi, who he has been friends with since preschool came and cheered him on as well which was fun for both of them, although he was so nervous before the meet when he went over to tell her hi and thanks for coming I’m not sure she knew he was glad she came. Both boys are improving and enjoying gymnastics so much it makes it a lot of fun to watch and cheer them on.
