A couple of weekends ago it was ballet time. Caedmon and Coppelia are company members of Centennial State Ballet (Coppelia is their youngest member) and they both had roles in the fall showcase, Magic Flute. Both Caedmon and Coppelia were peasants and Caedmon was also a soldier, but in his words “Mommy, I am basically a knight because my costume has a coat of arms and everything”. Being a knight is Caedmon’s dream and he recently learned that there is a Royal Ballet in England and he has decided that might be his dream job because he would get to dance for the Queen, just like the knights of old protected the Queen. For the first show I worked backstage as the stage manager and that was fun as always, the backstage moms are always fun and its exciting to watch the show come together behind the scenes. Clint and the other kids were able to live stream the show from home which they all enjoyed and we had some friends also tune in and cheer the kids on from their homes. I learned that all the dancers are in love with Coppelia and she is the topic of many dinner time conversations. I got to watch the second show with my mom and brother Chris. It was so fun and I was really surprised with how well Coppelia did, she worked really hard and did all her steps. The last time she danced on stage was a few years ago, and that time she did do all of her steps as well, but she completely faced backwards and did all of them that way. And Caedmon was fun to watch as always, he loves to dance and you can see it in everything he does. It was so good to be back in a theater and watching a live show after so many months. The kids didn’t mind wearing masks and everyone in teh audience did without complaints either. And now Nutcracker is going to be here soon and both are super excited to dance in that.
