Caedmon, it is hard to believe that it has already been four years since you made your entrance into this world and into our hearts. Your smile and joy and just general goofiness brightens each and every one of our days. You made Leighton a big brother, a role that he has taken great pride in, and yet you adore and love to be his “buddy”. And with the arrival of Edric you have taken your role of big brother very seriously and taught him all you know (like how to “water” the trees in the back yard).
Caedmon you have big dreams and a lot of flair and few things hinder you. You love your ballet and tap class, where often you are the only one paying attention and following the teacher in the midst of a sea of little girls in tutus. And yet you love just as much wearing your construction clothes and “working as a worker man”. I love going on walks with you when there are construction workers working on a neighbors house because you stop and talk with them like they are your good friends, and when we finally walk away, you smile and wave and say “see ya later guys”.

You have a strong self confidence and approach everything with the “oh, I’ve got this attitude”. Except for noisy potties, (which you are terrified of) and seem to exist everywhere except for the ones in our house. There is nothing that you won’t try and you think and believe you can do anything your big brother does, and often you show us that you can. And if you don’t know something, you don’t hesitate to say so and quickly move on without a second thought or glance back. I love that despite being disappointed that the Thomas on your Bronco jersey did not refer to Thomas the Train, you fully embraced cheering on the team and would often ask if “Merius Thomas” was playing that day.
Your fashion sense is standout. You often leave the house in your “grandpa boots” and have been known to go to speech therapy dressed as a giraffe. Pairing ninja pants and safety goggles just goes with the territory in your world. Your emotions seem to match your sense of style in that they are BIG and bold and often hard to define or trace the origin.

I love hearing your share your thoughts and your dreams and whatever your little mind has created up. It is always interesting to ask you what you want for your birthday or Christmas because it often leaves me scratching my head trying to figure out how to make it a reality. For Christmas this year you requested “a ladder to practice climbing on the roof so I can be a worker-man” and for your birthday you asked for “ninja gloves with spikes that help me climb the wall”.
I love your sweet hugs and snuggles as you snuggle up in my lap to read a book or after a scraped knee. You have a kind heart and deep feelings for anything that might be hurting and I pray that that will always be true of you. And so Caedmon Isaiah, Happy Birthday, and as I ask you often, please don’t grow up to fast, but know that each day is a little brighter because of you. I love you buddy.
