For the first time ever we did not have a real tree this year. It was just not going to work, and so we decided to just buy a pre-lit tree and actually that worked really well. We spent the morning decorating it a couple of days after Thanksgiving and everyone had fun. The tree looked very nice as did everything else. And we still haven’t gotten our outdoor lights up….and given that we are a week away from Christmas I’m thinking that is just not going to happen. Which is fine. It may not be our most decorated year, but everything is ready and we have enjoyed our times together. Christmas is nearly here and ultimately it is not about the decorations on the tree or the lights around the tree or the presents under the tree (which we don’t actually keep there because the dog will chew them), but actually about the Savior who came and so that is why we celebrate.
