Monday afternoon I took the kids and met up with some friends at a local pumpkin farm for a fun afternoon. We quickly headed out to the pumpkin field to see what we could find. Unfortunately this year despite planting 6 pumpkin plants I only ended up with one small pumpkin. I discovered that the kids all decided to get the biggest pumpkins that they could. They found a few big ones early on and I helped carry them up to our wheel barrow but then they kept finding bigger and bigger ones. I’m pretty sure the photo I got of each with a pumpkin is not even the pumpkin that they ended up with because they’d go find a bigger one and I was too busy carrying heavy pumpkins up and down the field to get photos of their latest finds. In the end I think Edric’s and Caedmon’s both weighed in at 27 pounds a piece. Our friend Maggie won though with hers weighing in at 29 pounds. The kids had fun finding gourds as well and each picked out one of those. After we loaded up the pumpkins we headed over to a nearby park and the kids had a great time playing and I got to catch up with my good friend for a bit. It was a great afternoon and the clouds opened up and poured rain just as we were loading back in our vans at the end so it was a perfect afternoon.
