We decided to go hiking a couple of weeks ago. The plan was originally to hike to Chasm Lake at the foot of Longs Peak, but despite leaving early and getting to the trail head by 6AM there were no parking spots. So we drove down the road a bit to Ouzel Lake Trailhead and did that hike. On our way to the trailhead there were two moose running along the side of the road which was a pretty amazing way to start the hike. The hike was amazing. Gorgeous waterfalls all along the way, breathtaking scenery and some pretty amazing kid hikers. They hiked 11 miles in total and had great attitudes. They all carried bags with their own waters (which we refilled if needed) to get ready for our backpacking trip in a couple of weeks. Because we started so early and then got to the stop by mid morning when we made it down it was just after lunch (which we had already eaten at the top), so we headed into Estes Park for ice cream because that is the best way to finish a hike.
