Leighton did his first away camp a week or so ago. He did gymnastics camp at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Everyone was excited to drop him off and explore the Air Force Academy a little. We weren’t allowed to go with him to his dorm, so after we said goodbye at the bus we drove up to the visitor’s center and explored a little more. Each of the other kids picked a plane they wanted their photo in front of and from there we could see the backside of the dorm that Leighton was staying in. He sent us a photo of his dorm. He spent all week working on different gymnastics skills and working with some different coaches. He usually sent me a brief update each evening. He mastered a couple new skills and made friends with his roommate. He struggled a bit with the meals because of his Celiacs but we had prepared and packed him some food that he could eat when he had foods he couldn’t. On Friday we got to go and watch his last workout session and he showed us his new skills and it was super fun to see how much he had grown. Clint had decorated the driveway and Leighton was glad to be home.
