Over the past 10 days or so we have been living in Nutcracker land. Caedmon was in a mini Nutcracker for the Niwot Holiday Market 2 weekends in a row. It was really cute and he did a great job. The next day they had Nutcracker dress rehearsal which went really well. And then a couple of days later Caedmon and Coppelia had their ballet class and boys dance class in studio winter recital. Both kids did that. After we finished the recital there was photos in costumes for Nutcracker and Coppelia got to do some photos with her big Angel which was really sweet. And then it was the marathon of Nutcracker, tech rehearsal, dress rehearsal and two full shows with an extra practice or two thrown in. The kids did amazing! Caedmon was awesome as Fritz and had so much fun as a gingerbread. Coppelia was a cute baby mouse and a lovely angel and her big angel Abby did amazing encouraging and loving on the little angels. They all adore her. We got to go to dinner with Uncle Chris and Mr Adam after the first show and we ate yummy fried chicken. We had a number of friends come to the show to cheer the kids on and bring them flowers and a number of friends also watch the live stream (including Coppelia’s foster parents in South Korea!), and when we got home some friends had left goodies on our porch for the kids. After the show on Saturday Clint and the boys wanted to see it again so we bought extra tickets for them on Sunday. My parents also came on Sunday and really enjoyed the show. I worked backstage to help with the quick changes (and there were a lot this show) which was a lot of fun. I got to see the majority of the show from the wings and also help out and help things flow. It was a great Nutcracker for Coppelia’s first of hopefully many, and the first big role for Caedmon which was fun to see how much he has grown and developed as a dancer and entertainer.
