Last Thursday morning I got to harvest my honey for the first time this summer. My bees have been busy working. My hive makes it super easy to harvest without causing any harm to the bees. They have been a little testy lately because of the heat so we were extra cautious when we harvested and wore our bee suits which we didn’t need. Edric was my big helper, but Paxton and Caedmon were my helpers early on as well, they just got tired after a bit and ran off to play. Edric stuck with me and we ended up harvesting nearly 400 ounces of honey. And it is good honey, we have enjoyed eating it and also sharing it with others. Hopefully we can get one more harvest before the end of the summer when they bees have to start storing up their winter supplies. We are loving having the bees and watching them do their thing and be a part of our garden and yard.
