Life gets busy. Life gets crazy. There are good times and there are bad times, but every now and then you just need the chance to get away and be disconnected from it all. My Aunt Mary has a cabin kind of in the middle of nowhere Colorado that is great. Phones don’t work, there are no internet connections and texts don’t go through unless you stand on one toe by one of the windows with your tongue out…then you might get lucky. In short it’s a great place to get away.
And go sledding. Honestly when was the last time you just hopped on a sled and fly down a hill and crash landed at the bottom? Or spent time make and smoothing a path for the sled to see how far it would go? The last couple of springs we have done just that, loaded up the kids, my parents and my brother and spent a few days at my aunts cabin doing not much more than flying down the hills on pieces of plastic.
My parents will be 60 this year but that didn’t stop them. They both act like they are still in their 40s. I love hearing my mom giggle as she goes down a hill. My brother still thinks he’s 18 and found out after going airborne a few times that the snow is a little harder and less forgiving after you turn 30.
But the real fun was watching the little guys. Leighton had no fear this year and laughed at all of us and giggled his way down the hills as well. Caedmon had a blast as well and is young enough still to insist on being pulled around in the sled everywhere, which we all did for him.

We had a great time!
