Gardening 101 Week 24

There’s a vine invasion going on at my house. The cantaloupe (which I didn’t plant by the way, the ones I planted all died….) as well as the watermelon (also didn’t plant those) and the pumpkins (I DID plant those) have all taken over their areas and are quickly spreading to new spots. I have pumpkins growing in my strawberries, cantaloupe and watermelon mixed in to my rose bushes and pumpkins trying to overrun my flower bed as well. In all honesty I kind of like it, things are a little more natural and free and not so planned.

Besides the invasion of plants my Maximilian Sunflower opened up. The first year it was just one stalk and now there are well over 30 stalks. It has been fun to watch it grow, it is now over 10 feet tall.

Beautiful!

It is a magnet for lady bugs which my boys love. We are often out searching it for a lady bug and then trying to capture it and let it crawl all over us before it flies away.

Hope you are having a good week. Hoping to be able to can some cherry peppers this week and maybe make some more salsa and pasta sauce!
