Last week we got to blast off with our church’s VBS. Since we finished up homeschool early in May our family actually spent some mornings helping build and put together some of the decorations that were used. Paxton and Leighton worked on the control tower, Clint, Edric and Coppelia worked on the rockets and Caedmon helped with the satellite. We spent a little time helping set up before everything kicked off. Clint and I were both “crew leaders” which meant we had 4-6 kids we were in charge of. Leighton helped as an “assistant crew leader” meaning that he helped one of the small groups, and Caedmon was on the song team helping teach everyone the songs and motions each day. We had a blast all week, there were science experiments for the elementary kids, and I helped in preschool which meant we had craft time and playground time. The preschool kids also had a huge space station that was all done in glow in the dark paint and black lights that we got to explore and play in each day while the elementary kids played crazy games. There was Bible teaching and of course yummy snacks. All in all they had over 130 kids, but then 125 volunteers that made it all come together. The volunteers ranged in ages 12-80+ and did everything from leading groups to handing out snacks to giving band aides and checking Bible verses. It was amazing to work along side so many and have fun the entire week. We were all tired by the end but it was well worth it. I didn’t get many photos during the week, but here are a few.
