Siblings…

We have known from day 1 in our adoption process that Edric and Coppelia had siblings and I have had the privilege of being in contact with one of their moms throughout the processes. We have shared photos and Christmas cards and messages back and forth. We’ve told Edric and Coppelia as well that they have the same tummy mommy and that there are others that also have the same tummy mommy. In many ways it has helped to compare my own experience and share that how Uncle Chris and I have the same tummy mommy but grew up with different mommys is very similar. I got an email from another family recently which prompted the other mom and I to send many texts back and forth and ultimately we were able to arrange a time for the kids to meet. Of course unbeknownst to us it turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year, but we all took it in stride. The kids all had a great time playing at the park and the other mom and I sat and shared our experiences and struggles with all things adoption. It was amazing to compare notes and learn a bit about the quirks and blessings in each of our kids and how much they all actually share and have in common. We topped the afternoon off with a walk to get ice cream which was a win on all fronts. I know the kids don’t yet fully understand the complexities and uniqueness of their situations but excited to watch these relationships grown and blossom. And to fill in a few more pieces of the puzzle.
