After we hiked Angels Landing we loaded back up in the shuttle bus and headed to Riverside Hike. The path was very smooth and very flat, it ends where the slot canyon known as the Narrows begins and we saw many people in their wet suits starting their hike for that. Someday we will hopefully go back and do that hike as well. on the way back we hiked along the less crowded and more natural trail that went along the Virgin River and that was a lot of fun. We stopped and had lunch and just enjoyed our time. We hiked back to the shuttle stop and then road it to the Zion Lodge where we refilled out water bottles again and then started on the Upper and Lower Emerald Pools trails. There was a lot of up and down on those trails but there were amazing views throughout. The pools weren’t all that impressive but we still really enjoyed the hike. After the hike everyone was pretty much done, we had done over 11 miles and so we headed back to the visitor center where the kids picked out a postcards for their friends. We decided as a family that for each National Park we go to we will get a coffee mug and display that in our dining room and use to drink hot chocolate from each winter as we plan our next adventures. It was a great day, we loved Zion. There were a ton of people despite their strict control of shuttles and everything and our super early start. Hopefully we can go back another time and visit and explore some more of the back country areas that aren’t so crowded.
